Chip Wagner has been appointed to be the Chairman of the Worldwide ERC’s "The Appraisal Foundation Advisory Council." (TAFAC) Monitors changes to the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) and technical issues regarding the ERC® Summary Appraisal Report. Advises on issues and recommends action items when appropriate.

Chip has been elected to serve on the Chicago Chapter of the Appraisal Institute’s Board of Directors, effective 2005-2007 (http://www.ccai.org).

Chip Wagner was elected to serve as 2004 President of the Relocation Appraisers and Consultants. (www.rac.net)

Chip Wagner has article published in the March 2004 issue of Mobility Magazine. Titled: "What Could Happen When the Economy Improves in 2004", Wagner examines the housing sector and predicts the effects of rising interest rates and more balanced markets. A stronger economy may have a negative effect on relocation homesale programs and inventory, according to Wagner.

Chip Wagner was appointed to serve on the Worldwide ERC’s Industry Advisory Council. Composed of individuals reflecting the breadth of the relocation industry, the Industry Advisory Council (IAC) facilitates open communication, highlights emerging trends, and identifies opportunities for the growth and betterment of the relocation profession.

Chip Wagner was appointed to ERC's Certification Review Board. This committee provides overall guidance for the Council’s Certified Relocation Professional program and works with ERC’s outside consultant, Professional Examination Service, in developing the CRP exam. The committee is made up of professionals representing all facets of the relocation industry.


December 2001

Chip Wagner was appointed to the National Association of Independent Fee Appraisers "Relocation Committee" for 2002. This is his 4 year on this committee.


May 2001

Chip Wagner attended ERC's National Relocation Conference in San Antonio, TX. Wagner served as a focus group participant for ERC during this conference.

Chip was awarded ERC's prestigious Distinguished Service Award, elevating his CRP designation to the Senior standing of SCRP. Only 15 appraisers in the country have ever received this award, and some have since retired or left the industry.

May 25 - 26, 2000

Chip Wagner attended the Appraisal Institute course #700, "The Appraiser as an Expert Witness: Preparation and Testimony":
This two-day course provides a hands-on introduction to the basic concepts and strategies needed to pursue a specialty in litigation valuation. It explores the scope of activities expected of appraisers in a legal action, including assessing the status of the case, acting as a consultant to the client or the client's counsel, appearing at a deposition, and participating in formal settlement efforts. Course participants learn legal terminology as it applies to appraising and take part in role-playing scenarios involving valuation team meetings, preparation for cross examination, the presentation of exhibits in a trial, and the trial itself. Group participation in a mock trial is the highlight of the course and gives appraisers the opportunity to practice the skills they need to succeed in litigation appraisal work.

Chip Wagner was runner-up in the 2nd annual Relocation Appraisers & Consultants, Inc. (RAC) Report Writing Contest, which is an award recognizing his report writing skills as the most thorough and understandable by a panel of third-party and corporate professionals.

Al and Chip Wagner attended the 11th annual Relocation Appraisers & Consultants, Inc. (RAC) Conference in Chicago, IL. Chip was elected to serve as the 2000 Secretary of RAC. He also served as a speaker on the Web Page session for the conference with Jonathan Miller, CRP of Miller Samuel and Butch Hicks, SRA of Hicks Real Estate Services.

A.L. Wagner & Co. celebrates their 30th year of service to the Chicagoland area this year! The firm's founder, Alvin L. Wagner, Jr., SRA, RM, SCRP has retired from the day-to-day operation of the company and has turned the business over to his son, Alvin "Chip" Wagner III, IFA, CRP. The elder Wagner will remain as a consultant to the firm while the younger Wagner has taken over the day-to-day operations of the appraisal business.

Also, January marks the rebirth of A. L. Wagner & Co.'s Internet presence. Our next generation web page is being developed by Webmaster Ben Olson and now has a new home at the URL www.alwagner.com.

Chip Wagner was awarded ERC's 1999 Meritorious Service Award at the National Relocation Conference in Las Vegas, NV.

To recognize and extend its gratitude for the invaluable contributions of members, the Employee Relocation Council (ERC) implemented a Service Recognition Awards Program in 1989. Ten years later, nearly 550 members have been honored through this program, most recently during ERC's 1999 National Relocation Conference on May 5, 1999 in Las Vegas, NV.

Open to the entire ERC membership, the program offers three levels of service awards - Meritorious Service, Distinguished Service, and the Hall of Leaders. Service awards are conferred based on a merit system through which members earn certain amounts of points. Points can be earned for such participation as serving as a moderator, panelist, or speaker at any ERC meeting program; for each editorial contribution to Mobility or any other ERC publication; for active membership on a committee or task force; or for service as a committee chairman. The program formally recognizes that ERC's success is a direct result of the dedication of members and the devotion of their time and expertise for the betterment of the industry.

Al Wagner received ERC's Distinguished Service Award in 1989 and 1992.

Chip Wagner was elected to serve on the Board of Directors of the Corporate Relocation Council (CRC), which is a regional relocation group similar to ERC. Chip is the first appraisal professional to serve on the board in several years. He is also on CRC's 1999 Program Planning Committee. Chip is serving a three-year term on the Board.


October 21 - 23, 1998

Both Al and Chip Wagner attended ERC's Fall Management Symposium meeting in Chicago. Chip served as the sole appraiser on the meeting's 1998 national planning committee.

Chip served as a mederator for the Hot Topics Workshop titled: "The Hidden Costs in Corporate Appraisal Policies." This sessions featured Jeffrey G. Otteau, IFA, SCRP as the presenter in a session investigating the relationship between various appraisal policy options and overall relocation program costs. The cause and effect relationship of selected practices on appraisal accuracy and the resulting cost implications were examined.

Chip also served as a panelist at this meeting on the session titled "Working together to Serve a Common Client." This session was moderated by Terry Davis, SCRP with Cendant Mobility and panelists were Reba Doyle from Bell South, Kathy Marzullo, CRP from Cendant Mortgage and Chip Wagner, IFA, CRP. This session discussed how clients often select two or more providers for their relocation services. Two competitors working together to serve a common client can be rewarding and challenging - breaking the "old rules" of business. This session explored how to develop such partnerships and provide win-win solutions for clients.

Al and Chip Wagner attended the Relocation Appraisers and Consultants (RAC) Annual Membership Meeting and Educational Conference in Washington, DC. The conference theme was IN PURSUIT OF EXCELLENCE, which reflects the challenge appraisers face in today's competitive business environment to strive for continual improvement. This year's theme is also intended to be a celebration of the excellence that has been the "heart and soul" of the RAC organization from its inception. RAC was founded on the principle of EXCELLENCE that begins with our uncompromising membership standards and extends to our commitment to our clients. In keeping with that tradition, the 1998 Educational Conference will be an exploration of the unique skills and creative solutions the RAC members bring to the relocation industry, together with an exciting glimpse of the challenges ahead.


January 16, 1998

Chip Wagner was honored with RAC's "President's Award." 1997 President, Jeffrey M. Barta, SRA, CRP, of Waukesha, WI presented the prestigious award to Wagner. During his presentation, Barta stated, "Chip Wagner is most deserving of this award as his dedication and energy is an inspiration to all members." Wagner has served on RAC's Board of Directors, was Editor of RAC's newsletter, and acted as Communications Chair for the RAC membership. He also initiated a monthly on-line Internet newsletter to RAC members.


December 10, 11, & 12, 1997

Chip Wagner served as a panelist at the Paul Taylor Associates 21st Annual Relocation Seminar in Boston, Massachusetts. The session was moderated by Keith Fimian with Invision Technologies, and fellow panelists were Pandra Dickson, a Realtor, Jules Falcone, a home inspector, and Linda Brooks, a relocation manager with an in-house relocation program. The presentation was titled "Propert Evaluations Change With the Markets: Buy Low and Sell High." The objective of the workshop was to teach relocation professionals the way the brokers, appraisers, home inspectors, and relocation managers view the relocation process and marketing of the home in good times and bad times. Al Wagner, Jr. also attended this conference.


November 14 & 15, 1997

Al Wagner, Jr., Chip Wagner and Bob Johnson attended the first annual 1997 National Appraisal Conference for HFS Mobility Services in Chicago, IL. The theme of the conference was "Show Me The Value," reflecting the theme of the new company as a result of the purchase of PHH Relocation, Coldwell Banker Relocation Services, and Worldwide Relocation. Program highlights included: Enviornmental Effects on Appraising, Safe Appraising, Forecasting/Market Change, FHA/VA/Freddie Mac/HUD, Current Trends in Asset Management Valuation, Best Appraisal Practices, HFS Mobility Services Diversity Program, and Preferred Alliances. A session called the "X-12" files dealt with creating a completely digital appraisal report and transmitting the report to the client through the Internet.


November 14 & 15, 1997

A.L. Wagner & Co. was honored at this conference for their outstanding performance. At the two day conference which was attended by over 425 appraisal companies from throughout the United States, A.L. Wagner & Company received the award for outstanding appraisal accuracy on corporate relocation assignments over the past year. A. L. Wagner & Co. had achieved this honor from the former PHH Relocation in 1995 and 1996. A.L. Wagner & Co.'s Naperville office currently has a gross sale to appraised value variance of under 3%.


September, 1997

Chip Wagner was appointed to the 1998 ERC Fall Symposium Planning Committee. The Fall Symposium is attended by relocation professional who have achieved the CRP designation from the Employee Relocation Council. As part of the planning committee, Chip will serve in the capacity of a speaker or a moderator at this conference which is planned for October 1998.

Chip Wagner has earned the CRP designation awarded by the Employee Relocation Council. To earn the CRP designation, one must meet certain elgibility requirements and pass a comprehensive exam on the various aspects of the employee relocation field. The purpose of ERC's certification program is to encourage members working in specific aspects of employee relocation to gain extensive and useful knowledge of all aspects of employee relocation. A major purpose of this program is the achievement of a common and universal understanding of the entire relocation field and recognition of those professionals who demonstrate mastery.


May 13 - 16, 1997

Al Wagner Jr, and Chip Wagner attended the Employee Relocation Council's 1997 National Relocation Conference in Dallas, Texas. This was Al's 31st ERC Conference in 32 years.


March, 1997

Chip has attained the designation of IFA from the National Association of Independent Fee Appraisers after successfully completing the experience requirements and demonstrating proficiency and expertise through written examination and narrative appraisal reporting. The NAIFA was founded in 1961 as a non-profit professional society of Real Estate Appraisers. The Association's objective is to raise the standards of the profession, gain recognition for its members as qualified appraisers, and to promote fellowship among appraisers.


February, 1997

Chip Wagner, Vice President of A. L. Wagner & Co. was appointed to MOBILITY Magazine's Editorial 1997 Advisory Committee. MOBILITY, published monthly by the Employee Relocation Council, examines key issues affecting the relocation industry for the benefit of corporations, government agencies, and firms or individuals providing specific services to relocated employees and their families. The committee is made up of professionals representing all facets of the relocation industy. Of the 16 members, Chip is the only representative from the appraisal discipline.

Chip Wagner was elected to serve on the Relocation Appraisers and Consultants (RAC) Board of Directors. He will serve a three year term in this position. RAC is the nationwide organization of independant appraisers who are trained professionals specializing in relocation appraising.

Al and Chip Wagner attended the Relocation Appraisers and Consultants (RAC) Annual Membership Meeting and Educational Conference in Oak Brook, Illinois. The conference was titled KEEPING IT OUT OF INVENTORY, and Chip served on the conference planning committee.


October 23, 24, & 25, 1996

Al Wagner, Jr., President of A. L. Wagner & Co. attended the Employee Relocation Council's Management Symposium in Washington, D.C.  This was Al's 30th ERC conference that he has attended over the past 31 years.


October 10 & 11, 1996

Chip Wagner served as a moderator for PHH Network Services Regional Seminar in Nashville, Tennessee.  He presented a 75 minute workshop for three sessions.  The presentation was titled "Joyride on the Internet" and the objective of the workshop was to teach appraisers how to use the Internet for communication, education, promotion, and commerce.  Al Wagner, Jr. attended as well.


September 16 & 17, 1996

Al Wagner, Jr. and Chip Wagner attended the 1996 "Partners for Progress" annual conference for the Associates Relocation Management Company in Washington, D.C.  Program highlights included:  Building Trusting Partnerships, Exceeding Customer Expectations, Relocation on the Internet, The Firing Line, and the bonus seminar: Associates Relocation 101.

Al Wagner, Jr. and Chip Wagner attended the Employee Relocation Council's 1996 National Relocation Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada.  This was Al's 29th conference in 31 years and Chip's first ERC National Relocation Conference.
